I'm a freshman going away to college and need to pay for it on my own. i already applied for my fafsa and received some financial aid but i need to take out a loan for the rest. im just not sure where the best place is to get a loan from or what specific things i should be looking for...help anyone??

Federal subsidized loans such as the stafford subsidized loan are your best bet. Also, check fastweb.com to see if you qualify for any scholarships or grants. Go to your financial aid office and ask about stafford subsidized loans.

If the federal loans don't cover all of your costs then see if you qualify for work-study. Work-study jobs just mean that the government pays for a portion of your paycheck.

As a last resort, use private student loans. They're the most expensive. You can find private student loans at financialaid.com, Wells Fargo, or finfo.com. Finfo allows you to receive up to four competing offers, but make sure that you shop around.

Good luck!

You should contact the financial aid office at your school - they should have plenty of resources to help you decide. In addition www.finaid.org/loans has some information on there as well.

Good luck!

You can try your local bank to see if they have loans but you probably would need a co-signer

I don't know what you mean by a good place, most of the lenders have high interest rate anyway, try wachovia, or astute student loans, your financial aid office may be able to give you more resources, good luck
